I am in love with OMA’s CCTV project for China. In Content Rem alleges that the Chinese government, while displaying a more rigid face to the world than Europeans and Americans, is really more invested in progressive capital-C Culture as they transition to capitalism - the tendency a vestige of their Communist past. Rem hates skyscrapers (there’s a picture of the Roppongi Hills Building A with a samurai sword through it in Content) and CCTV is his response to 9/11: the space of two towers reconfigured as a loop.
