Did you get a MacBook?
I bought three.
Three?
Yeah, the whole fam is equipped.
And? So?
They’re the most perfect laptops I’ve ever used. The major change beside the screen is the keyboard; each key is set in its own well, with space surrounding. It’s off-putting at first, but the key response is fantastic and I’m already used to it. So many grace notes: the camera in the frame, the magnetic hinge, Front Row, and of course the flawless transition thanks to Migration Assistant. Just an amazing experience from start to finish. Everything bellows: quality! If you don’t need a DVD-R, the low end $1099 model is the greatest bargain in the history of computing.
What about speed?
I’ve noticed that Universal binaries seem to be quite a bit swifter than PPC code, duh, I guess, but I’m going to go thru my apps and make sure I’m all upgraded.
Are you worried about buying Rev. A?
Not really. No gliches so far. I did buy AppleCare just in case.
Anything else?
I had to go to two stores to procure three machines (scene from Fashion Square: “I’d like to give you $4000.” Apple: “No thanks.”), and at the Beverly Center I was helped by a charming woman my age; we got to talking about Russia (there was Russian on my t-shirt) and she was like “My sweetheart’s family is Russian.” And I said “Your sweetheart? That’s such a nice way to put it.” “He’s my love, my sweetheart,” she replied. So sweet. I don’t want to say that Macs are better, but try going into any other retail computer outlet where the people are so in touch with the spirit of romance.
