Buying a wife on Craigslist

  • I was at the Falafel King in Westwood today and noticed they carry Abali Yogurt Soda. I couldn’t bring myself to buy it; possibly for the best.
  • I finished Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search For Meaning yesterday, which had been on my reading list for some time. I liked the approach: first a story, then a method. But bracketing the heartbreaking, if underwritten, Holocaust story, I was strongly put off by the outline of his psychiatric practice of ‘logotherapy,’ which came off as a mismash of anecdotes about quick cures and a severe dumbing-down of certain Nietzschean themes. Avoid.
  • How awesome was the convenience store guy’s argument for contraception on Veronica Mars last night? “He came in to buy raincoats [...] one less bastard child conceived by morons.”
  • Is it weird that it’s October 25 and the new iPod shuffle is seemingly still not shipping? This is one of those products whose design is so strong that I’m getting one irrespective of my actual needs. The last thing I bought on those terms was an Alessi Diabolix Bottle Opener in red, even though I never really open bottles at home.
