Letters to Tricycle

These aren’t new year’s resolutions or anything, but lately I’ve started two new routines I really like: ten to twenty minutes of running (thanks Andrea!) and six minutes of sitting meditation. I actually sit on the treadmill; I like how it makes the two activities of one piece. I use Minuteur to beep when my time is up - obviously you don’t want to be checking your watch when you’re trying to experience empty mind. So ANYWAY, today I’m sitting and sitting and sitting and at first I’m all ‘thoughts are leaves blowing through an empty street’ and a little while later I’m like shit, I’m hungry, and finally I’m like christ, my back hurts - it hasn’t been six minutes? And so I finally got up and checked Minuteur and my laptop’s sound was on mute, and the alarm had been going off for a while.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go eat some granola.
