I got this song from Amy Kellner over at Teenage Unicorn just now, but I don’t think there’s a lot of reader overlap between our blogs (and I mean if there is, email me and say hi) so I thought I’d throw it up here also. Pennygold seems like something my mom would have sang along to on the radio in 1983 (pictured)…I thought I’d heard it before and sure enough it’s on Saint Etienne’s The Trip volume. The lyrics go right to my heart; it’s about leaving the “tensions of the city” to return to the country – “back to the mountain of Pennygold” for air and evergreens and maple groves and spring streams.

I write screenplays, books and push software; I'm a collector and indoorsman. If you have a Masonic scepter or a copy of the Boyd Philadelphia Blue Book (any year), drop me a line.
