I went to RadioShack today to buy an HDMI cable for my PlayStation – turns out DVI-D doesn’t carry audio signals; I don’t know why I thought it did – anyway, their least expensive cable was $50. The salesman couldn’t believe I didn’t want it. “There’s no such thing as a cheap HDMI cable,” he guffawed, donut crumbs bouncing off his chin. But there is, there is such a thing and I just ordered it for $5.94 from Monoprice.com. So this dude was either uninformed or flat out lying to my face.
I loved RadioShack in the 80s, with its learn-electronics kits and robot hands, but I feel its time has come.
