I’m eating monoagriculture from Koo Koo Roo right now and dying over this review of Dan Barber’s new restaurant/farm (via Marginal Revolution). The vegetables look crazy.
Between him and David Chang, it seems like pork is the most important protein in America right now.
As deeply gladdened as I am by the food-raised-on-site concept, I’m bummed […]

I made the most basic salmon for dinner - finely diced onion, celery and capers sauteed in olive oil, salmon dredged in flour, pan-fried then coated in the sauce with white wine vinegar to reduce. Ten minutes. But I just walked back in the kitchen and the cooking smell of those nice fresh vegetables lingers. […]

“With America gone fishing-crazy, no housewife knows when she will answer a knock at the kitchen door and be suddenly faced with a neighbor’s surplus catch in all its chill, scaly impersonality.”
“The Irish cook, praised for her hash, declared: ‘Beef ain’t nothing. Onions ain’t nothing. Seasoning’s nothing. But when I throw myself into my hash, […]

I was just there, and I noticed that Gerber Finger Foods for toddlers have much, much better ingredients than the stuff in the snack aisle. No corn syrup, artificial flavors or much fat. Seriously, I’ll go for that option next time.
I love him, by the way - he’s just playing a caricature of himself on Hell’s Kitchen. Anyway, he said something that really caught my attention:
The presentation lasts thirty seconds, big boy. It’s the taste that holds the memory.
but this is my jam right here: The Hood Internet - Rick Ross vs. Ghosthustler Every Day I’m Ghosthustlin’.
Very pleasant dinner last night at the Bel Air Grill - come on Zagat contributers, it deserves better than 21s esp. in the “decor” category, which is straight out of an 80s B-movie about Hollywood High students […]
I’ve always thought you should buy your coffin ahead of time and really enjoy it, you know? There are lots of beautiful and sturdy coffin designs on the market - and I’m sure, because I’ve seen them at Costco. You don’t have to read this, regular readers, I’m just trying to get something into Google.
The pizza: it’s awful. I was going to take a picture, but it was like something out of Saw III and I couldn’t do that to you. It’s like eating their website. Avoid. To be fair, some of the food […]

1. The next time Wendy’s gives me a Spicy Chicken Sandwich when I order a Homestyle Chicken Sandwich, I’m going to flip out on them and ask to talk to the manager and stuff.
2. Just tried Volvic Orange. Volvic is my favorite water, but Volvic Orange tastes like they melted two orange Skittles into a […]
Andreaa has a new site for her new book and a new Amazon blog. On the offhand chance that anyone who reads Litwack.org is unfamiliar, make sure to buy To Feel Stuff on August 1. Napping is okay, but don’t sleep!
Kismet is on the way. All of my people are falling into their note-slots in […]

Update: I wrote this last night and wasn’t going to post it, but I saw a Red Bull commercial that plays on cannibalism and it pushed me over the edge. So:
Is it just me, or has it been a big year for cannibals? Nathalie was obsessed with anthropomorphized food for a while, which I consider […]
I’m a Philadelphia transplant to Los Angeles, of course. And Philadelphia, my sweet home, has two food cultures, high and low. There is little of note in the middle. If you are in my city with your friends, and you want a nice, medium-priced restaurant to surprise and delight you, forget it. On the high […]
