Prototype? Well, sort of. The first image is art for the JLA Survival Suit, a toy which doesn't seem like it got very far in the planning stages (maybe they were having trouble with the antigravity concept). Anyway, designers on the later Superman: Man of Steel line used the concept for their Kryptonian Battle Suit, shown in the second picture. Neat, right?
